Evansville
Electric & Manufacturing Company, Inc., was founded in
1920 by John W. Poling, Griffith T. Powell, and Gilbert
J. Poling doing business as Evansville Electric Works.
John and Gilbert Poling were experienced in mining equipment
maintenance and repair.
In 1921 the company was
incorporated as Evansville Electric & Manufacturing Company,
Inc. with the three originial founders as major share holders.

In
1941 when John Poling died, Gilbert Poling became President
of the Corporation and remained Chief Executive Officer until
late in 1962. At that time John G. Mathias, Sr. and John
W. Schwentker, Sr. assumed the leadership, continuing to
the present time.
From it's inception the company has
primarily concentrated on repairing electric motors and
providing new replacement
parts for mining machinery. The company's service area includes
Southern Illinois, Southern Indiana, and Western Kentucky. |
